Backstrom - Caps - There are two guys named Alex
who may end up flanking Backstom on the left side. Perhaps
you've heard of them...Ovechkin and Semin. Not a bad scenario
for a European rookie center. Expectations are rising
in D.C., but still remain modest. That creates a low pressure
situation for the rookie with a realistic opportunity
to post huge first year numbers. |

Handzus - Kings - I keep finding fantasy
steals in L.A. Handzus happily leaves Chi-Town after playing
less than ten games and has a chance to center a couple
of guys like Cammalleri and Alexander Frolov. Handzus
has plenty of experience in the NHL and internationally
and this year he should have enough talent around to have
an impact in any fantasy league. |

Staal - Penguins - Staal's rookie campaign was
overshadowed a bit by Malkin's performance. The goals
were there last year, but not many assists while he wasn't
spending steady time with a supporting cast. This year,
Staal shouldn't be bumped around from center to left and
will most likely play with Gary Roberts who uses his physical
play to create room and go to the net. Expect even better
numbers as far as points and plus/minus. |

| Wojtek Wolski - Avalanche - As far as rookies go, Wolski was 5th in goals and assists and ended up 4th in scoring among first year players. Sakic, Hlinka, and Stastny are all on this Colorodo team which should make some noise this year. Keep and eye on Wolski this year and maybe grab him in a deeper league. |

Nagv - Kings - The Kings may be able to take advantage
of the Ducks Cup hangover. They have been quietly stocking
up on young talent and Nagv is part of that. He posted
50 plus points for a Dallas team which somehow earned
107pts. last year, but should see a sharp increase in
point production with his new club. |

| Jussi Jokinen
- Stars -The 24 year old scored 55 points as a
rookie in 2005-2006 and 48 pts. last season. The Stars
have the goaltending and mix up veterans on both sides
of the blue line to produce points. It'll come down to
the intangibles of chemistry to decide how far of a playoff
run they'll have. Jokinen will be seeing his first 20
goal season in '07-'08. |

| Dick Tarnstrom
- Oilers - In Tarnstrom's only true full season
in the NHL he posted 52 points with a lack luster Pittsburgh
team. The season before that he managed 41 points in only
61 games. He's now back in Edmonton and could post solid
numbers on the power play. |

| Alex Picard
- Flyers - I'm not on the Philly bandwagon, but
they should improve this season with help from their off
season signings. Picard tallied 22 points last year in
62 games as a rookie. Those are impressive numbers for
a rookie playing on a disasterous Flyer team last year. |
